MeeGo powered mobiles are not released yet. Nokia N9 is rumored to come with MeeGo OS. A developer edition of MeeGo for Nokia N900 was promised by MeeGo team. MeeGo 1.2 Developer Edition was released few days ago at the San Francisco MeeGo conference. Today I’m going to show you how to install MeeGo 1.2 Developer Edition on Nokia N900. This is very early Nokia N900 MeeGo port, so there may be some bugs and it is not ready for day to day usage. By following this guide you will be able to install Meego on Nokia N900 and dual boot with Maemo 5 operating system.
Warning: I’m not responsible if anything wrong happens to your mobile. If you have NITDroid (Android) installed in your mobile then you must uninstall it.

What you need to Install MeeGo on Nokia N900-
- MeeGo DE 1.2 Image
- Nokia N900
- MicroSD Card 4GB minimum (Class 4 or better)
- Time 30 Minutes
First connect your mobile to the internet via Wi-Fi or Cellular data and insert MicroSD card in mobile.
Enable Extras-devel repository from App manager and update it
install ‘uboot-pr13′
or
Enable Extras-devel repository from App manager
Close App Manager and open x-terminal and use these commands
apt-get updateapt-get install uboot-pr13
Now Download MeeGo 1.2 Developer Edition image (San Francisco release) [581 MB]. Save the image file in computer hard disk.
Download and install WinRar.
Right click on downloaded MeeGo image file and select ‘Extract Here’. Now WinRar will start extracting the image file. When the process is complete, you will get image file named mg-handset-armv7nhl-n900-de-sanity-1.1.99.7.20110516.2.DE.2011-05-23.1-mmcblk0p.raw of size 3.55 GB.
Now rename the extension of file from .raw to .img


Next Download Win32DiskImager in Zip format [5.3 MB]. Open the Zip file and start Win32DiskImager.exe
Using Win32DiskImager browse to the folder where you have kept the extracted MeeGo image file and select it.
Connect Nokia N900 to computer and select ‘Mass Storage‘ mode. Notice the drive letter of MicoSD card in the computer.
In Win32DiskImager select the MicroSD card drive letter (be careful)

Now click ‘Write’. It will start extracting the MeeGo image file to the MicroSD Card. It will take around 10-15 min to complete.
When it completes, disconnect N900 from the computer and reboot.
MeeGo OS will start loading. If you want to boot Maemo 5 then slide out physical keyboard and during booting and interrupt the process by pressing any keys.
Type
run noloboot
to run Maemo 5
