Ubuntu is one of the best and user-friendly Linux distribution available now. If you want to use a fast, secure and virus free operating then I’ll advise you to try Ubuntu. Have you already installed it on your PC or planning to test it? If you are going to install Ubuntu then this tutorial will be helpful to you. Usually to install Ubuntu we burn the OS .iso  image file to blank CD and boot from that CD or create bootable USB flash drive and boot from it. But you may not have black CD or USB flash drive with you always ready or you don’t want to burn an Ubuntu CD. Today I’m going to show you how to install Ubuntu inside Windows without CD or bootable DVD and dual boot with Windows.

Install Ubuntu inside Windows

Install Ubuntu inside Windows using Wubi installer:

In this tutorial I’m going to show you how to install Ubuntu inside Windows 7 using Wubi and without CD or USB flash drive. We will be dual booting Ubuntu with Windows. Without wasting time here we go–

Things you need –

  1. Ubuntu  .iso image Download
  2. SiSoft Virtual CloneDrive (Freeware) Download
  3. 15/20 GB Hard disk partition
  4. Time- 30 min

Download Ubuntu .iso image file and save it on your hard disk. Now download SiSoft Virtual CloneDrive and install it. Using SiSoft Virtual CloneDrive we can create virtual CD/DVD drive and mount .iso image files. Create a 15/20 GB partition on your computer where you will be installing Ubuntu. Now open the folder where you have kept the .iso file and right click on it. Select Mount Virtual Drive

Now open Computer, you will notice that there is a new optical drive there.

Open it,inside it you will find Wubi installer which helps to install Ubuntu inside Windows OS.Double click on it to start the Wubi installer.

Select Install inside Windows

Now select the installation drive which you have created (be careful).

Select Installation size, I’ve select 14 GB as my partition is 15 GB.

Enter your username and password. These will be asked when you will start Ubuntu.

Hit ‘Install’ to start installation. First Ubuntu will be extracted on your hard disk and computer will restart. Now follow the on screen instructions to complete the installation process. It will take 20-30 min to complete.

After installation your computer will be restarted. You will get two operating system options Windows and Ubuntu. Select Ubuntu and start it and enjoy it!
