India’s No 1 online music streaming service Gaana.com is receiving the much awaited user interface refresh called Gaana 3.0 which vastly improves the user experience. This popular music streaming service was started in 20111 by Times Internet. Currently it has 5 million active monthly users and offers more than 2 million songs of different categories like Bollywood, International or Regional songs. Mobile optimized application of Gaana.com is also extremely popular. The app is available for almost all platforms like Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Blackberry and Java based phones.

Gaana 3.0

What’s new in Gaana 3.0?

The new  HTML5 based user interface makes the Gaana.com web app more attractive, intuitive and user friendly. Now is works great on tablet devices. I took a quick look at the Gaana 3.0 and I’m really impressed with the new design. The interface features flat UI design; gone those glossy shiny buttons and icons. Lately we have been noticing this kind of flat UI on Windows 8, Windows Mobile or the new Apple iOS 7.  The new design is refreshing and adds a freshness to the web app.

Gaana 3.0 UI Change

Music listening experience is also improved, all thanks to the new advanced music player and social discovery feature. Finding songs is now super easy; click on the “Browse” button and you can browse songs by New Releases, Genres, Albums or Artists. You can create your own playlist and save it for later use. Don’t know which song to listen next? Simply use the music “Discover” feature to listen what your friends are listening or find the most popular songs. There is also Gaana Radio which plays professionally programmed online radio streams.

Gaana RadioGaana 3.0 is a big improvement, I’m sure everyone will love the changes. But the music streaming quality is unchanged. That means the bit-rate is still 64 kbps no matter how fast your internet connection is. The low bit-rate might be suitable for mobile devices which have limited bandwidth and slower speed but if you are planning to play the music on desktop, then you will be disappointed with the quality. If you are paid Gaana+ subscribers then it is possible to stream music at 128 kbps on mobile devices and download them at 320 kbps. But free users can only go up to 64 kbps. We got to know that Gaana.com is working on sound quality improvement. In future you might be able to change the music streaming bit-rate. Currently this is not possible due to some technical limitations.
