Imaging Sensor:

The main USP of Canon EOS 6D and Nikon D600 is that they offer full frame sensors, but there is a slight cut from Nikon that they are offering higher resolution accurately 24.3 Megapixel but Canon is at 20.2 MP. There are both pros and cons of a high resolution imaging sensor. Either the image noise increases with the slightest error but if you want to trim the photo and retain high quality then Nikon will be better.

Auto-Focus:

Canon 6D
Canon 6D

Canon EOS 6D features a 11 Point autofocus system which can be found on Dx format DSLR cameras like Nikon D3200 camera. But Nikon is leading with its 39 point Autofocus system on D600. But there is a small hidden thing as well, EOS 6D can focus down to -3EV but Nikon does it only to -1EV. This can make a lot of difference if you are mostly clicking picks in low light or night light.

Processor and Sensitivity:

Both camera features the latest processor technology from respective companies. Canon EOS 6D is powered by a Digic 5+ image Processor and Nikon with Expeed 3 processor. Canon gets the advantage here as they are boosting about the ISO 100-25,600, that can be expanded to ISO 102,400. The Nikon’s D600 is much below with range of ISO 100-6400 and up to 25600 with software tweaks.  This simply means that if you are working with low light then Canon will be a better choice.

Memory:

As a photo addict, I mostly prefer DSLR’s that have a dual card slot so that I can keep the RAW images and JPEG different. This provides better flexibility but still Canon decided to have a single SD card slot but Nikon D600 has 2 card slots.

Video:

I prefer DSLR to use for recording the video when I am doing a hands on review of some phones or gadgets. Both of the cameras here feature full 1080p HD video recording. There is an advantage with Nikon D600 as it has  HDMI output so you can just connect the camera to HDTV and enjoy the recorded video. Both cameras can record videos different frame rates and you can easily record a video of 30 minutes in full settings.

Connectivity:

Canon is boasting about the EOS 6D as the first DSLR to feature a Wi-FI and GPS sensors. They also claim that it is very hard to integrate such connectivity features in DSLR as they get more bulky and bigger. Nikon D600 has nothing like it, but you can get a WU-1b which adds the WI-Fi connectivity but you will still miss the GPS.

Wi-Fi functionality has many advantages, you can upload videos directly to social network or Cloud storage. Beside that you can control your DSLR using your Wi-Fi enabled phone- Android and iOS has many apps to control your DSLR remotely.

Screen and Viewfinder:

Nikon D600 features a 3.2 inch LCD screen, Canon has a smaller 3inch screen but a higher resolution screen. Also D600 gives you 100% coverage with its advanced viewfinder but Canon still features 97% coverage.

Price, Availability and Verdict:

Canon EOS 6D Price: $2,099.00 [Body only]

Nikon D600 Price: $2099.00 [Body only]

Nikon D600 is already selling on Amazon and other online stores from months but if you want EOS 6D then you will need to wait for a few months.

Right now, Nikon D600 is a great catch but if you are going to buy it around the year end in the festive season then prices may come down due to competition with similar Canon EOS 6D.
