Windows 8.1 update which was earlier known as Windows Blue update has now reached stable build. A few months ago Microsoft made Windows 8.1 Preview version publicly available. Now this much awaited update has reached the final stage. Microsoft sent the Windows 8.1 RTM version to manufacturers. The official release date of Windows 8.1 is October 18. This time MSDN and TechNet subscribers are not getting early access to the update, they need to wait till Oct 18 to get their hands on the latest update.

Windows 8.1

Microsoft released Windows 8 last year. Windows 8 brought the new Modern User Interface to the computer and provided improved performance. But it failed to live up to the expectations; it received somewhat mixed response from the users. Windows 8 RT tablets failed miserably to make an impact in the growing tablet market. Many users didn’t like the absence of Start Button and inability to boot directly into the desktop. Microsoft took user feedbacks seriously and they are doing the damage control with the upcoming Windows 8.1 update.

What’s new in Windows 8.1?

Start Button is coming back! But before you get too much excited let me tell you that the functionality of the Start Button will be a little bit different, it will not bring the traditional Start Menu, instead it will take you to the Start screen. If you prefer old styled Start Button and Start Menu then check out Start8.

Do you hate the Modern UI? You will be happy to know that Windows 8.1 will offer the ability to boot directly to the desktop.  Apart from these changes Windows 8.1 will bring performance and security enhancements. It will come with a brand new wallpaper as well.

How to download Windows 8.1?

Windows 8.1 RTM already leaked in various file sharing websites. Windows 8.1 Core, Professional and Enterprise editions are available for download in localized language like English, Russian, Japanese, German, and Chinese. If you are impatient, you can download fully functional Windows 8.1 .ISO files in 32-bit and 64-Bit versions. It is reported that Windows 8.1 can be activated using legitimate Windows 8 license keys. However you will not get any support from Microsoft if you install leaked Windows 8.1 on your computer.  So if anything gets wrong after installing it you have you fix it yourself.
