[Solved] Error cannot install CCleaner on computer? Here’s how to fix it

CCleaner doesn’t need any introduction, because it is one of the most popular system cleaning and optimization software for Windows. The free version of the software works as well as any other paid system optimization software. It is one of my favorite software. CCleaner helps to speed up computer and keeps it running fast by cleaning temporary files, browser cache and cookies, registry files, etc. Also, it accelerates computer start-up time by disabling unnecessary programs. As we know windows tends to get slower over the time, it can be a quite useful software.

Now let’s get back to the real purpose of writing this article. I’ve been using CCleaner since long time, it worked pretty well all the time. But, recently when I was trying to install the latest version of CCleaner a weird error message was popping up:

Error: Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

This is strange, as I don’t face any problem installing any other software. It only occurs when I try installing or updating CCleaner from the executable file. I think there maybe be some people like me who are experiencing this problem.

According to Microsoft this can happen for various reasons and they have suggested some solutions for this. But I’m not going to follow the lengthy guides to troubleshoot this problem. Because I’ve found an easy quick fix.

To solve this CCleaner installation problem, just rename the CCleaner installer to anything. For example, I’ve renamed the installer to just “CCleaner” from “CCleaner_v5.0.6.6219”. Now double-click on it and voila! Everything will be fine afterwards. I hope CCleaner will roll out some update to fix this installation problem, until then just follow this quick tip.
